To help clients prepare for their expected or unexpected moments before cameras, microphones and reporters asking
serious questions, Crawford Communications conducts programs tailored for groups or individuals. In these workshops,
the firm's principal, Carol Crawford, shares experience acquired as a media spokesperson and presenter for companies
and clients she has represented in her career including Johnson Wax, US Sprint, and Genentech.
At Ketchum Public Relations in San Francisco, Carol established "Speakout!,"
a media training program for company executives and spokespersons. As corporate communications
manager and spokesperson with US Sprint, she instituted media training and
presentation skills programs for the firm's senior management, marketing, public affairs and
corporate communications staffs.
Serving as a consultant to Genentech, Carol handled media inquiries on a daily basis throughout a
critical 15-month period when the company prepared for FDA approval of a new breakthrough
treatment for heart attacks. She counseled senior management in preparing for interviews with
leading national and international media, and conducted training sessions to prepare the company's
medical and scientific representatives for media interviews.
Carol has also conducted media training and presentation skills programs for the American Lung
Associations of the Bay Area, American Lung Association of California, Hospice by the
Bay, La Salle Partners, National Semiconductor, Pacific Bell, PLM Financial Services, 101 OnLine,
Smith Ranch Homes, and Zephyr Real Estate.
